Founder's Biography: A Living Testimony
Rev. Lenita Reeves is the founder of PurposeHouse Christian Counseling, a doctoral candidate (DMin.) in Christian Counseling, an ordained pastor, and a member of the National Christian Counselors Association. She has over a decade of counseling experience as an associate pastor, lead pastor, and professional counselor. She has taught biblical counseling strategies at numerous conferences, has written books and articles on biblical counseling topics, and has a national and international counseling and teaching ministry. She is also a former educator, with a master's degree in education, and has seen marriages, sexual abuse, and depression healed from her counseling ministry.
As a rape survivor, she has first-hand experience with the ill effects of a lack of Biblical, Christian Counseling. While the issue of rape was not being addressed from the pulpit, the Lord revealed answers to her from the scriptures. It is this revelation that inspired her to write the book entitled, Breaking the Silence: the Journey from Rape to Redemption. She is a living testimony that the Bible has answers for tough issues and can help the believer overcome and grow.
She has been privileged to minister internationally, preaching the gospel in the Caribbean, London, Kenya, Uganda, and Ghana and seeing God bring revival, and many women set free from the bondage of abuse as a result of the revelation in her book. She has organized several conferences and seminars including women’s conferences, Back to the Bible Movement, and Dominion Gathering. Reflective of her passion for the Word, she uses her past 10 years of professional experience in instructional design to develop curriculum for leadership, counseling, and issues such as anger, rejection, and conflict resolution.
In addition to her book, Breaking the Silence, her message topics include:
- Breaking Soul Ties and Rejection
- Sex in Marriage: Champion in Chambers
- Living but Leaking: Walking but Wounded
- From the Matrix: From the Womb
The Word
The Bible is given by the inspiration of God and is the only sufficient, certain, and authoritative rule of all-saving knowledge, faith, and obedience. (II Tim 3:16, Ps 119:9-11)
God
There is one God revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each with distinct attributes. To God alone do all creatures owe the highest reverence, love, and obedience. (Ex 20: 1-6, Matt 28: 19, II Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus
Jesus Christ is the Son and is divinely appointed as mediator between God and man. He died, was buried, arose on the third day, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God interceding for us. (I Tim 2:5-, Rom 8:34)
Holy Spirit
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is vital for understanding the Word, for power to witness, and for spiritual fruit in the life of the believer. (Gal
5:22, Acts 4:31, John 16: 13-14)
The Local Church
Each believer must be committed to a local assembly for spiritual oversight, accountability, and participation. (Heb. 10:22-25)
Salvation
Regeneration is a change of heart by the Holy Spirit to a life of holiness, freely given by repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior. (Titus 3:5, Romans 10:9-10)
Baptism
Water baptism by immersion is an ordinance of the church, obligatory upon every believer. (I Peter 3:20b22, Mark 16: 16)
Fruitfulness
The continual practice of the spiritual disciplines (prayer, fasting, Bible Study, and worship) is necessary for Christian growth and fruitfulness. (CoI
4:2, Josh 1:8, 11 Tim 2:15)
